La C.I.O., La Cartographie Informatisée de L'Outaouais, is a
cartography firm established in 1987 by Raymond Gaudet. They have published 13
regional maps of the province of Québec, Canada. These maps can be found in
convenience stores, service stations, bookstores, department stores, and most regional
tourist associations. Recently, La C.I.O. formed a partnership with seasoned
programmer Robert Boivin to create a new firm called Cartovision. Their
first product is Québec By Mouse, an interactive CD-ROM. -More-

Answers:
1. The longitude of the north pole is undefined, so just about any
value will do. Mentor Software products usually default to the central meridian, or
equivalent thereof, for the longitude/X Coordinate of the north pole.
2. South. From the north pole, that’s the only
direction available to you.
3. Wellington (Not Auckland as published in our e-newletter), New Zealand (first)
and Avarua, The Cook Islands (last) or is it Apia, Samoa? Our apologies to our New Zealand
subscribers! Cheers! Think of us poor souls here in snowy Colorado while you're
toasting champagne. FYI: Gisborne will be the first city to see the new
year and Mount Hikurangi will be the first to see the sun. |
