Despite all the fancy
dialog boxes, dockable toolbars, dropdown menus, etc., etc.; the everyday work of the
average AutoCAD user requires frequent use of the keyboard; especially if you are still
using a legacy application (the contemporary euphemism for "old stuff"). For
example, to undo an erroneous selection, most users don’t have much choice other than
to reach for the keyboard and hit the U key.
Our Freebie of the Month for June is a simple toolbar menu which includes all
the letters of the alphabet. Activating this menu enables the AutoCAD user to use the
mouse to click on the toolbar anytime a keyboard letter is required. This will work for
any of the many AutoCAD commands which still make use of the standard command line prompt
sequence.
